I won stuff last week! Oh yes i did! I have pretties to prove it and they have my name on them :)
My silly fic The Lotty Bear won best light hearted at the rouge poets awards (someone out there gets me :)
And Schizophrenic Delusion won best spuffy short at the Fang Fetish awards, and my word it beat some corkers in that category I am humbled and honoured
I am utterly blown away! A massive thank you to the nomination fairy *squishes whoever did that good deed* , the awards sites and the judges that put so much time into making these awards possible.
Now some self appreciation. Go brearface, go bearface!!!!! Whooo!!!
Ok I'll stop that now :)

9:35 pm - 16 Weeks! 16! Since i last posted, shame on the bear!

I can't believe it's been 3 months, summer time makes me busy. Anyway, I've signed up for seasonal spuffy so that should free one of the fics locked in the dungeons of my hard drive.
Hey while I'm on, does anyone else love Simon Pegg? I watched Hot Fuzz again the other night (yay for dvd release) and found myself suddenly quite smitten. This led to downloading and watching all of Spaced in 2 days which led to the realisation that Mr Pegg is the sexiest man ever to sport a ginger beard.
Shameless fangirling led to trawling the internet for interviews and infatuation became love when I read that Stig of the Dump was top of his list of books that mean something to him. *Swoon*

I got nominated at the Shadows and Dust awards! (thanks always ;)

Where indeed?
My bastard email system decided that award nominations should go straight into my junk folder. Obviously my email system is not aware of just what and honour a fan fic award nomination is or how much i means to an author.
Turned the email up today and guess what, if you want to be included you have to reply before the 5th of march!
I'm trying to focus on teh fact i got nominated which i am very excited about especially considering that the nomination fairy is a fantastic author who's good opinion of my fic is incredibly flattering. But the shine has definately ben taken off.

Well thank heavens for ![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) cordykitten who kindly let me know that I'd been nominated over at harem of spike awards but needed to accept the nomination. Damn work email putting these crucial messages in the spam box!
So off i popped to get me a pretty button...
Question?
Is it acceptable to have Spike wheeze, pant, gasp etc? A recent review tutted me (though not unkindly) for having him wheeze, citing Angel's inability to perform CPR in season 1. But Spike does appear to gasp and pant (not to mention smoke) an awful lot.
Also why the hell can't they breath? Why can't they use their diaphragm just as well as they use their biceps?

Poking my head over the parapet I am. Been and age since i posted, and my seasonal spuffy fic has been wip for over a month now ::hangs head in shame::

So a drabble and the promise that the final chapter of loadstone north (which i assume everyones forgotten all about anyway) is with April for proofing and will be posted in the next day or so

I'm so pleased to get a real first place award. Especially as Loosing Eden is a fic II'm actually very proud of. Many thanks then to the nice people over at the Fang Fetish Awards.
I shall just take a moment to admire the pretty.... hmmm.
On another matter. I'm so sorry I haven't got the end of Loadstone North posted yet, there's a section no more than a handful of paragraphs long that just wont write. grrrr. i haven't stopped trying and i will get it posted asap.

Some nice person nominated my dark fic Loosing Eden at the Fang Fetish Awards which makes me very happy as writting is going a bit haywire at the mo. It's not the dreaded BLOCK nor has the muse packed up its meager possesion and joyfully buggered off crying "Screw you sucker, I'm going to vegas".
But my seasonal Spuffy fic is running away with me and I don't know if it will be too long for a community situation even if i can finish it and I don't feel like I can write anything else while this one's got its claws into me.

4:03 pm - Re-read and re-watched. Some things deserve a second go
|
So i re-read Kallystens awsome Babysteps the other day because I was in the dolldrums and I couldn't find anything new to read.
I can't believe that that is actually my third read of that fic and I'm surprised yet again by how much I enjoyed it. (I'm a confirmed baby fic hater, almost as much as i hate William fic). But it's so well written and the emotional journey taken by the characters is so perfectly paced that I got sucked in yet again and was glad to have been.
I re-watched Harsh Light of Day last night on the old VD player and noticed 3 things
1 - Harmony is hilarious! Just love her.
2 - Spike is sexy as hell! And JM looked kinda young. I think working full time on Buffy aged the poor man badly because he looks more that 3 years older than that by the end of season 7
3 - SMG has god awful posture. Watch that ep and check out her rounded back and match stick arms early in the episode when she's wearing a strappy top. Did her mother never tell her to stand up straight?
I have no point. I am pointless
One more thing - bought the complete Jeeves and Wooster on DVD and watched a couple of eps last night.
It was like being fourteen again crushing on Hugh Laurie like nobodies business. Hmm must get DVD's of House so I can perv on the older more rugged version. I honestly have no idea what I find so atractive about HL but he shares space on my Ross Geller list with Johnny Depp and JM so I must rate him pretty damn high

9:16 am - France: Great for the soul bad for the waist line
|
Hello everyone. Just back from a week in france with Hubby and seven mates. Lovely time was had by all playing table tennis in the courtyard of my parents maison secondaire and drinking wine twenty four hours a day (Steady drinking does give you a surreal kind of drunkeness).
Anyway there was also cycling, and epic canoe journey down Le Loire and much reading and lazing in the sun. (Forgot my book so I found myself reading Jeeves and Wooster, wonderful stuff, expect the bear to be using phrases like, "plenty of vim", "biffed off" and "What'ho" in her fiction for a while ;-)
But mostly I ate, and ate, and ate. Cheese, bread, pate, steak. A few exceptional meals out. Did i mention i love france?
Anyway I come back barely able to squeeze into my desk and find myself a little daunted by the old F-list so if anyone's noticed any good fics or fic updates over the last week help a body out and let us know what?

10:50 am - "Spike licked the wound to close it" OR DID HE?

Now i know we've all chatted about fanon and canon and things that work their way into fic via fic and become gospel in our little fandom world.
But there is one that bothers me. Many fics, many many many fics include reference to vampire saliva being able to close a wounds and/or help it heal faster. Now i was thinking about this and it sounds a little unlikely, scientifically speaking.
The saliva of the vampire bat contains an anticoagulant that permits continued blood flow while the animal feeds. It makes sense, it's another of natures fine ideas. Now why would vampire saliva close the wound, presumably by possessing a congealing agent?
Sounds like demonic evolution got lost and took a u-turn. Does anyone know where the idea comes from? Canon? Other vampire lore or stories?

This is my offering for awmp's Spuffy Snarkathon written for ciley who gave me the following specs
1. a keyword/ situation/ line you want to see: Spike and Buffy in a cemetary
2. Three other requests for your fic: (at least semi) happy ending, Spuffyness (of the sexual kind), Spike being nice for even just one second
3. Up to three restrictions for your fic: no Riley/Buffy, no rape, no Spuffy death
4. Rating preference: NC-17
Well I've failed on a couple of points. Not NC-17 I'm afraid the sexual references are fairly oblique. Not nearly as snarky as I would have hoped considering its a bloomin' snarkathon.
However Spike and Buffy are in a cemetry (but then aren't they always?) and Spike is very nice at least some of the time (ciley didn't specify that he had to be nice to Buffy now did she) and the ending is not too gloomy at all.
Ok getting the hell on with it now. But first a massive thanks to April who hasn't heard a peep out of me for months but as soon as I present her with fic she gets it turned around in a day *smooches*

Boy can they drink over there. Went over for the weekend to see Bob Dylan at the Kilkenny source festival on saturday. Got ourselves right up at the front and looked upon the legend (boy is he old now)
Anyway spent sunday in Dublin drinking heavily and trying unsuccesfully to find me a new going out top. (My considered opinion is that clothes are truely hideous these days).
Contiuned getting blasted on the boat back home and toppled unconcious into my pit at gone one. Needless to say I haven't been massively efficient at work today and my attempt to sweat out the hangover by doing aerobics at lunchtime rather backfired *groans*
One other thing. I'm SHORT. I did not know this on account of my massive superiority complex which has me believing I'm pretty damn statuesque
